कानों की शोभा ज्ञान सुनने से है न कि कुंडल से, हाथों की शोभा दान से है न कि कंगन से;

परोपकारी मनुष्यों का शरीर चंदन के लेप से नहीं, बल्कि दूसरों की भलाई करने से शोभा पाता है।

यह सुभाषित 'परोपकार' और 'आंतरिक सौंदर्य' का सार है। कान की शोभा कुंडल पहनने से नहीं, बल्कि शास्त्र और ज्ञान की बातें सुनने से होती है। हाथ की शोभा कंगन पहनने से नहीं, बल्कि दान देने से होती है। इसी प्रकार, दयालु व्यक्तियों का शरीर चंदन के लेप से नहीं, बल्कि दूसरों की भलाई (परोपकार) करने से सुशोभित होता है। जीवन का सबक यह है कि हम अक्सर बाहरी चमक-धमक (Expensive accessories) पर बहुत खर्च करते हैं, लेकिन हमारी असली चमक हमारे 'उपयोग' से आती है। एक हाथ जो किसी की मदद के लिए उठता है, वह उस हाथ से कहीं अधिक सुंदर है जो केवल गहनों से लदा हो।

This verse redefines The Aesthetics of Virtue. It argues that the ear is truly adorned not by earrings, but by listening to sacred knowledge (Shruti). The hand is beautified not by golden bracelets, but by the act of giving (Dāna). Similarly, the body of compassionate people shines not because of sandalwood paste (Chandana), but because of their service to others (Paropakāra). The life lesson is: Utility is the highest form of beauty. In a world obsessed with filters and external appearances, remember that your value is defined by how much "light" you bring into the lives of others, not by how much "glitter" you wear on yourself.
