- Giving charity (Dānam) is a noble act, but if given with arrogance or harsh words, it humiliates the receiver.
- Jñānam (knowledge) naturally expands the ego if not processed correctly. The hallmark of true learning is Vinaya (humility)
- Śauryam (valor/bravery) without Kṣamā (forgiveness) is simply tyranny and cruelty.
- wealth is not meant for stagnant accumulation but for circulation and societal welfare (Tyāga).
This verse warns us that achieving success, intellect, or power is actually the easier part of human life. The real, rare challenge is mastering our psychological response to that success. To be highly powerful yet deeply forgiving, to be brilliantly educated yet completely humble, to be wealthy yet completely detached—this is the ultimate measure of character in the Indian philosophical tradition.
