वेदान्तः तथा वैराग्यम् (Vedanta and the Illusion of the Future)

In Vedantic psychology, living in the future is a form of Māyā (illusion). The bee represents the human soul (Jīva), trapped in the sweet, comfortable darkness of material life (Saṃsāra - the closed lotus). Instead of trying to escape the trap immediately, the bee procrastinates, comforting itself with fantasies of a better tomorrow. This verse acts as a shock to awaken Vairāgya (detachment), warning that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
